The mainstream media has invested heavily in the cause to paint President Trump a liar with regards to his strong accusations and suspicions that he and his campaign were under surveillance by the Obama Administration at Trump tower in Manhattan.

To date, the FBI Director Comey strongly denies it, former CIA Director Leon Panetta suggested that Trump apologize to Obama over it and Trump has had no luck coming up with anything resembling evidence. CNN has lived off of the story for three weeks with hosts like Don Lemon verbally punishing any guest that holds out hope for a possibility of this being true. President Obama was said to be infuriated at the public utterance of Trump to even suggest it.

In recent days however, the whispers of remote possibilities of this happening, have turned to actual press conferences.  Congressman Nunes (R-CA), Chairman of the United States House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence who, on Tuesday, said that it is "likely" "high level Obama administration members", were handed information gathered from private Trump campaign meetings inside of Trump Tower and that the surveillance was not related to any collusion with Russians.

So what are we looking at here?

Republican congressional investigators are publicly stating a prediction that the National Security Agency (NSA) wil provide the public with a "smoking gun", or clear evidence this week, that the Obama Administration was spying on the Trump campaign. The intelligence is said to leave no doubt the Obama administration, in its closing days, was using the cover of legitimate surveillance on foreign targets to spy on President-elect Trump.

Consider me an agnostic either way until said "smoking gun" is revealed for scrutiny. This is potentially historic stuff in the making. Forgive me while I keep my powder dry a bit longer.

* It is worth noting that German Intelligence is quite tech savvy, cutting edge and sophisticated and yet they had no clue Obama was spying on Angela Merkel. The lack of evidence isn't convincing me just as the accusation without evidence isn't necessarily compelling alone.
