New Bedford Police have arrested one man after a search warrant was executed Monday night.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says that at around 5:45 p.m. a search warrant was executed by members of the Organized Crime and Intelligence Bureau at 511 N. Front St. apt.1.

The suspect being targeted by the investigation was taken into custody shortly after leaving the apartment.

A search of the apartment resulted in the seizure of eight tramadol tablets (opioid pain medication), a Ruger .357 handgun, 54 rounds of ammunition, and $6,328 in cash.

Detectives also found several Western Union money transfers with the destination being Colombia.

Vicente says an identification card from Costa Rica, which was found in the apartment, identified the target as Freddy Camacho.

However, upon being fingerprinted, the suspect's true identity was revealed to be 34-year-old Elvis Freddy Camacho-Perdomo who, records indicate, was picked up in 2003 by immigration officials out of Miami for being a stowaway.

Camacho-Perdomo was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday morning in New Bedford District Court on drug and firearm charges.
