Charges have been filed against a Wareham teen after he allegedly shot a six-year-old with a BB pellet.

Acting Police Chief Kevin Walsh says the incident took place Saturday, January 25th on Swifts Beach Road, and involved a six-year-old being shot in the left shoulder while he was playing in his backyard.

An investigation determined the pellet shot came from the adjacent home, and police soon executed a search warrant, confiscating two airsoft rifles and pellets belonging to a 16-year-old boy living at the home. T

he unidentified teen has been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and discharging a BB gun as a minor.

The six-year-old boy was treated for the non-life-threatening injury and has been returned home.
