Wareham Police take another illegal handgun off the streets following a vehicle stop on Thursday.

The stop happened on Cranberry Highway after the vehicle at first attempted to elude police.

According to Interim Police Chief Kevin Walsh,  police found a loaded .22 caliber handgun and a knife in the clothing of 25-year-old Jazz Tavares of New Bedford.

The driver, 21-year-old Ashleigh Fowler of New Bedford was found to be driving without a license.

Tavares was charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license. Fowler faces a charge of operating after license suspension. Both were arraigned in Wareham District Court.
