A Wareham man is under arrest after threatening a police officer with a snow shovel.

Interim Police Chief Kevin Walsh says around 8:30am Thursday, a man at 192 Swifts Beach Road was yelling at and threatening municipal maintenance employees as they removed snow from the roadway and sidewalks in the area.

When police arrived on the scene, the man continued to be belligerent and confrontational. Police say at one point, the man identified as 39-year-old Judson Philip Rice, threatened an officer with bodily harm while holding a shovel. After a brief struggle, Rice was placed under arrest with disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace.

Rice was arraigned Thursday afternoon in Wareham District Court.
