A Wareham man has been convicted of first degree murder in Bristol County, and has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole.

The District Attorney's office says a Fall River jury returned the guilty verdict on Friday against 23 year old Darius Gamboa.  He was found guilty in the shooting death of 31 year old Julio Barbosa on July 6, 2012.  The jury deliberated about nine hours over two days before returning the guilty verdict.

Police say Darius Gamboa shot Barbosa in the parking lot of a 7-11 store at Cove Road and Rodney French Boulevard.  Barbosa was allegedly being chased by Gamboa's father, Ryan Gamboa who was armed with a knife.

Ryan Gamboa is also charged with murder and will go on trial next week in Fall River Superior Court.
