WAREHAM — When Wareham Police were called to check out a disturbance in the area of 412 Main Street Monday Evening, they found a vehicle that had struck a building, but no driver.

The officers were then told by a woman at the scene that the driver had deliberately struck her with the car before hitting the building. While investigating, police determined the driver who had fled the scene was Doreen Fernandes, 52, of Wareham.

While the officers were still at the scene, Fernandes reported to the Wareham Police headquarters where she was placed under arrest. She is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. The victim was taken to Tobey Hospital by Wareham EMS for treatment.

Due to the heavy volume of calls to Wareham Police on Monday, Marion police were called in to assist.
