The Walgreen's Pharmacy on Kempton Street is the victim of a scam.

A man called the store Tuesday morning claiming to be a manager, and stating that customers were being overtaxed on prepaid cash cards.

Over the course of several hours, the man had a clerk activate 18 cash cards, and supply him with numbers and security codes.  It was later determined the calls were a hoax, with the missing cash totaling more than $6,000.

Anyone with information is asked to call New Bedford Police at 508 991-6300, extension 320.
