Friday is the deadline to register to vote in the state primary election on September 6.  Secretary of State William Galvin says U-S citizens who live in Massachusetts , and are 18 years old can sign up.  Sec. Galvin says voters should not dismiss the importance of primary elections.  

Other races include U-S Senator,  Governor's Council, contests for State Rep, and County Commissioner.  If you are unsure about your registration status, you can check with your local election office or town clerk.  Communities like New Bedford will have their election offices open till 8pm Friday to register new voters.
