Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall Bike and Car Show Fundraiser [Military Monday]

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall Committee has its eyes set on Veteran's Memorial Bicentennial Park in Fall River for its replica wall.

With the help of committed individuals and organizations across the SouthCoast, the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Wall Committee is raising funds to build an 80 percent scale replica of the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. This 360-foot-long wall would be erected along the waterfront of Fall River's Bicentennial Park. The wall will feature names listed in chronological order according to the date of each casualty; currently, a total of 58,282 names.

Want to support the cause? On Sunday, September 9, the committee is hosting a Bike and Car Show at Bristol Community College in Fall River. The show hours are 9 .m. until 2 p.m., and is FREE for the public to attend.

For cars and bikes who'd like to register, there is a $15 donation per vehicle, and registration happens between 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.. There will be music by Johnny Angel, raffles, food, refreshments and trophies awarded in five categories.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from the event will go towards the building of the wall; conceptual renderings (courtesy of the  William Stark Architects in Fall River) can be seen below.

The overall cost of the project is roughly $300,000, and the committee hopes to have the project done by 2020.
