The Vice-Chairman of the Fairhaven School Committee has passed away.

School officials say David Gonsalves, thought to be in his early 50's, died unexpectedly on Monday.  He served on the School Committee for 8 years.

Supt. Dr. Robert Baldwin tells WBSM News, Gonsalves cared greatly about Fairhaven schools and the community.

Dr. Baldwin says flags at Fairhaven schools will fly at half-staff to honor Gonsalves.

His calling hours will be this Sunday from 3 to 6 pm at the Fairhaven Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian burial celebrated on Monday at St.Mary's Church in Fairhaven followed by burial at the National Cemetary in Bourne.
