An group called "Dog Tags Navigators" will host a three day event this fall at Fort Tabor that concludes with a health and job fair for veterans.

The seven member group is supported by VFW Post 15-31 and Leadership Southcoast.

Other events include a salute to 9-11 victims and first responders on September 11th, and a day to assist homeless veterans on September 12th.

Group leader Cecil Hickman, a Vietnam veteran, says the health and job fair on September 13th will give veterans and their families a chance to learn more about the benefits and services available to them.

Hickman says many younger veterans refuse to apply for those benefits, mainly because of pride....

Dog Tag Navigators attempts to help veterans "figure it out", using veterans and medical professionals to search for the medical evidence that's needed.

Hickman says they've assisted more than 300 veterans in the past year.
