Eleven people were displaced and one woman was seriously injured after flames erupted in a Pleasant Street home in New Bedford.

Fire officials say the fire was reported shortly before 8:30 P.M. Monday on the top floor of the 2 1/2 story home at 1050 Pleasant Street. Firefighters were able to contain the flames to the room of origin, with the fire being put out within half an hour of their arrival.

One woman, an occupant of the top story, was found unconscious with significant burns to her body and was transported to St. Luke's before being airlifted to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. Police say the 48-year-old woman remains in critical condition.

The fire remains under investigation.
