Update: Student Death Caused By Suspected Drug Overdose

A UMass Dartmouth male student found dead Friday night in a residence hall on campus apparently died from an accidental  drug overdose.

University officials say campus police were called to Birch Hall around 11pm to check on a student.  The campus community was notified of the death around 3am Saturday, via email.

The University is not releasing the 20-year old student's name, but officials say he is not from Southeastern Massachusetts.

The University is also making counseling available for those who knew the student.
