UPDATE: New Bedford Man Shot in Head in ‘Extremely Critical Condition’
NEW BEDFORD – The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office has joined in the investigation into a shooting in New Bedford Tuesday night that left one man critically injured.
The DA’s Office says at 11:40 pm Tuesday night, New Bedford Police received a 911 call regarding a male suffering from a gunshot wound in an apartment building at 51 Tallman Street. Police arrived and found the man lying in the hallway of the building.
The victim, 21-year-old Justin Ortiz of New Bedford, had been shot in the right temple, and was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital before being transferred to Rhode Island Hospital.
Ortiz is in extremely critical condition as of this morning.
No arrests have been made. The investigation is active and ongoing.
