The head of the New Bedford Educators Association says he's outraged that teacher Joanne Maura is being investigated by the school administration following an incident last month where a student threw a chair at her desk. The student has been expelled. Union President Lou St. John feels it's wrong to put the spotlight on the teacher....

The administration claims Maura failed to properly report the incident in a timely fashion. St. John says Maura asked another teacher to call the office, and an administrator did show up in the classroom and was shown the broken chair.

A hearing was scheduled for Wednesday, but it didn't happen.  Maura told WBSM News via Facebook, she had requested a personal day so she could line up legal representation.
