An underground cable was discovered on a Rhode Island beach just a few feet from where an explosion left a Connecticut woman with injuries.

Investigators, coordinating with National Grid, spent the day inspecting an underground cable just a few feet under the surface of the sand at Salty Brine State Beach and are trying to determine if it had anything to do with the explosion that sent 60-year-old Kathleen Danise to the hospital

The State Fire Marshal’s Office continues to lead the investigation, though National Grid was on scene to inspect the cable determining that it is not their property.

Authorities combed the area Saturday and determined that the explosion was not caused by an explosive device.

Officials also tell ABC6 there is no evidence of a malicious attack.
