Unarmed Robbery In New Bedford

New Bedford Police are investigating after an Unarmed Robbery Wednesday night.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says an 81-year-old man was walking home near Bonney St. and Washington St around 9 p.m. when he noticed he was being followed.

The man was then punched in the back of the head, causing him to fall to the ground.

The suspect then went through the man's pockets, took his wallet, and fled.

The victim was taken to St Luke's Hospital with minor injuries.

The suspect is described as an 18-to-22-year-old Cape Verdean male with a tall thin build, short black hair, and wearing a white t-shirt.
