UMass Dartmouth Police say new statements made by the victim during the investigation of a reported rape on April 29th have now led police to question whether a crime was committed.

The incident was reported on May 5th. Initially, the victim said she was attacked by a thin black male in a fourth floor common area at Pine Dale Hall.

Chief of Police Emil Fioravanti said in a statement late Friday, in questioning the victim she significantly changed her original version about the suspect and the location of the attack. Further, she no longer wished to pursue any criminal investigation or charges.
