The theme at UMass Dartmouth this week has been a celebration of transformation, and now a plan has been unveiled that captures that idea.

At her official inauguration Thursday afternoon, Chancellor Divina Grossman detailed a number of areas where work needs to be done to maintain UMass Dartmouth as a high-ranking, competitive school.

Her one-year "UMassDTransform2020" plan addresses many important topics, including the school's financial status. Chancellor Grossman says the university must focus on fiscal priorities, and ween itself off of taxpayer dollars.

Building partnerships with local elementary and middle schools to encourage younger people to attend college is also a part of the plan.

Grossman says being more involved in community efforts and expanding research and scholarship programs are other prime areas of focus that will transform the university.
