Two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash has officially announced his retirement.

The 41-year-old Nash hasn't appeared in a game this season, and chronic injuries limited him to only 65 games since joining the Los Angeles Lakers in a trade with the Phoenix Suns in 2012.

Nash ranks third on the NBA's all-time assist list with 10,335.  The eight-time All-Star also scored 17,387 points and knocked down 1,685 3-pointers in 18 seasons with the Lakers, Suns and Dallas Mavericks.  (Metro Networks Inc)
