NANTUCKET — Two people have been rescued and two others are still missing after a boat sank about 10 miles off the coast of Nantucket, Massachusetts.

The Coast Guard says they received a distress call from the vessel Misty Blue shortly after 6 p.m. Monday. A nearby fishing boat rescued two of the crewmembers, Misty Blue Captain Eric Arabian, 44, and crew member Colby McMullen, 22, and brought them to a Coast Guard vessel. Their condition has not been released.

The Coast Guard says aircraft and boats have been deployed in search of the two other crewmembers, 44-year-old Michael Roberts and 32-year-old Jonathan Saraiva.

"We have a whole lot of assets out there. We've had them out all night," Coast Guard Petty Officer Andrew Barresi said in an appearance with WBSM's Barry Richard.

Barresi said the Coast Guard had a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and a fixed-wing aircraft out of Air Station Cape Cod already in the air when the initial call came in, and the two aircraft were diverted to the area of the call. He said there were a number of Coast Guard cutters in that area throughout the night, and that Massachusetts State Police divers were going down below the surface this afternoon.

Barresi said weather conditions are always a factor when searching.

"Last night, we had 15-knot winds and two-to-five-foot seas. Those might build as the day progresses," he said. "That'll be a challenge, but we have had a window through the night and this morning to get some good searching in."

Barresi said there was no intention to call the search off anytime soon.

"At this point, we're really just focused on doing everything we can to locate those two crew members," he said. "As far as a timetable, I'm not going to speculate when we might move toward suspending (the search). Right now, we're laser-focused on saturating that area, and just staying hopeful."

Officials are investigating the cause of the boat's sinking.

"It's still under investigation, but our focus still right now is primarily on searching and trying to find the two remaining crew members," Barresi said.

The Misty Blue is a commercial surf clam harvesting vessel that is homeported in New Bedford, owned by Atlantic Cape Fisheries, Inc.
