NEW BEDFORD—While investigating street-level crime in the north end of New Bedford on Tuesday afternoon, police witnessed what appeared to be a narcotics transaction. It was taking place in the parking lot of the McDonald's restaurant on Coggesall Street.

After investigating further, a passenger in the vehicle, Nathan Prescott, 31, of Cranston, Rhode Island was found to have Suboxone and Adderall Pills in his possession. He also had a blade that is larger than those permitted by law. Prescott was charged with possession of narcotics and carrying a weapon.

The driver of the car, Stephen Harrington, 62 of Rockdale Ave in New Bedford was charged with carrying a weapon.
