New Bedford and Dartmouth Firefighters were busy overnight battling two house fires. In New Bedford, firefighters responded to a tenement building on Jouvette Street where they found fire coming from the second floor, extending to the roof. Fire officials says a candle apparently set curtains in a corner bedroom on fire. One firefighter suffered a shoulder injury and was taken to St. Luke's Hospital. The Red Cross is providing shelter for six people. Meanwhile, Dartmouth firefighters responded to a Reed Road home at 3 am to a single family home which was described as a total loss. The 2 adults and 10 dogs got out safely and the Red Cross is helping them as well. There's no word on what caused the fire.
