Two people seriously injured when struck by a car early Saturday in Fairhaven are improving, according to Fairhaven Police.

The fifty year old New Bedford man and 40 year old Fairhaven woman were found unconscious around 2am Saturday near the intersection of Sycamore and Winsor streets.

Police say it appeared they had been struck from behind.

Both were taken to St. Luke's Hospital and the woman was later airlifted to Boston Medical Center.

Sgt. Kevin Kobza says officers have questioned the male victim, but he is unsure about what happened. Police are asking anyone with information to call them at 508 997-7421
