A Fall River police officer made an interesting discovery early Monday after checking out an open door on Kilburn Street in that city.

Lt. Ronald Furtado says while checking on the open door, officer Paul McGuire noticed a strong smell of marijuana. He peered in, and saw approximately 100 marijuana plants in one room, and a second room with about 100 plants.

Police say the building appeared to be a warehouse with rooms separated by petitions.

Police obtained a search warrant, confiscating the marijuana plants, some more than three feet tall. They also found a handgun and ammunition and a surveillance video system.

Lt. Furtado says the investigation is ongoing.
