Two homeless men in New Bedford are facing assault charges following their arrest Sunday night.

Police responded to an area behind the Save-A-Lot food store on Mt. Pleasant Street Sunday night and found a man with serious injuries to his arm.

Police later arrested Eddie Camacho and Angel Lopez who live in an encampment for the homeless in a wooded area nearby.

Police say Lopez and Camacho attacked the other man with wooden boards, and broke his arm.

Police told the Standard Times, officers have responded to the homeless encampment several times in the past, but Sunday was the first time they're responded there on a report of a crime.
