Fairhaven Firefighters responded to two fires Tuesday night.

Firefighter Wayne Oliveira says two engines and a ladder truck were dispatched to McCormack Manor at 157 Washington St. for report of smoke in an apartment.

Crews arrived around 9:45 p.m. and found a moderate smoke condition coming from apartment #308 and rescued an elderly man inside.

The unidentified man was taken to St. Luke's Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

Although the fire was confined to that one apartment the entire complex was evacuated as a precaution.

No damage estimate was available and no other injuries were reported.

Another fire alarm was received for the Titleist Distribution Plant on Bride St. while crews were still on scene at McCormack Manor.

Crews arrived on scene and found a small fire in a shrink wrap machine that was quickly extinguished.

No damage estimate was available and the machine was taken out of service.
