Two men are in custody after fleeing from East Providence Police in a high speed chase on Route 195 Wednesday.

Massachusetts State Police are reporting that police the gold Mercedes to stop around 4:00 p.m. on the eastbound side of 195 but the vehicle kept going.

East Providence Police then notified Massachusetts State Police.

The vehicle reportedly reached speeds of up to 100 miles per hour, according to Rehoboth Police.

The vehicle was discovered abandoned in the median of the highway and the two suspects fled into a wooded area in Rehoboth after they were suspected of causing a multicar accident.

Police searched for the suspects, and at around 9:00 p.m., two men, identified 29-year-old Robert Dias and 36-year-old Richard Ferreira, both of Fall River, were spotted by a police officer and taken into custody after a pursuit.

Both men are facing charges of breaking and entering for misdemeanor, trespassing and resisting arrest.

Dias was also being sought in connection with two robberies in New Bedford.

The first took place on January 22nd at the Bank 5 located on County Street and Rivet Street and a robbery at the service desk at Stop and Shop on Dartmouth Street.

Along with the two outstanding warrants for Armed Robbery and Armed Robbery with a firearm, Dias is also facing charges of Possession of Class A Substance (heroin).

Ferreira was released on a bail of $2,540.

A $4,540 bail was set for Dias and he was later transported to the Bristol County House of Corrections.

Both suspects were scheduled for arraignment in Taunton District Court on Thursday.
