The publicized 50's Cruise with Joe Jesus on the Seastreak departed with everyone on board expecting to twist and shout on the dance floor, while taking in the breathtaking view of the south coast of Buzzards Bay. Well, we encountered some other kinds of unexpected twists and turns! Joe wasn't feeling well, and understandably, couldn't join his fans. But the real unexpectedness happened out on the open waters. Twenty minutes out of protected New Bedford harbor, the winds suddenly shifted from the southwest and with the tide going out, it proved to be a rocky ride. Some folks couldn't take the rocking of the boat and before long, quite a few party goers became sick. Oh, yeah!

Seastreak decided to do the right thing and came back into port, giving folks an opportunity to get off, and also gave the passengers who wanted to remain on board a fast, fast ride to Woods Hole, because by this time the winds had changed direction. It ended up being a great time time for some of the people but for those who got sick, I have some tips on relieving motion sickness.

Avoid looking at my wife, Celeste, chomping away at greasy, stringy pizza while your stomach is turning.

Other tips include: Tilting your head from side-to-side until the feeling subsides.

Both peppermint and ginger oil have a substantial effect on prevention and treatment of sea sickness. Just a drop or two under your tongue will help you a lot.

Wear "Sea-Bands" around both wrists and eat lots of olives! And remember, Red Sky at night - sailor's delight. Red Sky in the morning - sailor's warning! Happy sailing!
