Tsarnaev’s Attorney’s Say Restrictions On Client “Overly Harsh”

Lawyers for Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev are asking a judge to lift restrictions placed on him in prison, arguing that they are overly harsh and have left him nearly totally isolated.

In a motion filed Wednesday, Tsarnaev's lawyers say he has been confined to his cell except for visits from them and ``very limited access'' to a small outdoor enclosure.

Tsarnaev is accused of building and planting bombs at the April 15 marathon, killing three people and injuring more than 260.

His lawyers say he was put under ``Special Administrative Measures'' used in terrorism cases. They say he has been subjected to ``extraordinary and severe restrictions'' that impair their ability to defend him.

A spokeswoman for U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz did not immediately return a call seeking comment. (Associated Press)
