A Massachusetts judge has set an Aug. 12 trial date on a criminal contempt charge filed against the cousin of former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez in connection with his murder case.

Tanya Singleton of Bristol, Conn., has pleaded not guilty to the charge prosecutors filed after she refused to testify before a grand jury that indicted Hernandez last year. She had been granted immunity.

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to murder in the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd, a 27-year-old Boston man who was dating the sister of the ex-player's fiancee.

At a hearing Friday, the judge also decided Singleton will be tried separately on charge of conspiracy to commit accessory to murder.  She has pleaded not guilty.

Singleton is free on bail and allowed to remain home in Connecticut to receive cancer treatment.  (Associated Press)
