Trash Collection Carts Being Delivered

New Bedford's new trash collection system begins next month, but the trash carts needed for that program are being delivered to residents now.

Ken Blanchard of the Department of Facilities and Fleet Management tells WBSM News, the cart deliveries began Monday in the far North End.

Blanchard says the new collection program begins on June 23rd. City residents will receive a cart for trash and a cart for recyclables.

Blanchard says the goals of the program are to increasing recycling in New Bedford, extend the life of the Crapo Hill Landfill, and reduce litter on city streets.
