"Capitol Conversations" is a series of meetings sponsored by the State Dept. of Transportation, to identify transportation priorities around the Commonwealth.

The meeting in this part of the state is Tuesday night in Fall River. Southcoast Rail Project Manager Jean Fox says the meetings are important steps in the planning process.

"Following the Capitol Conversations, we'll be working on where money will be spent over the next five years," said Fox. "For Southcoast Rail that will be particularly important as we emerge from preliminary design to the permitting phase, we're going to need funds for that."

Fox told WBSM News, she's hoping for a large turnout on Tuesday, in support of the commuter rail project. "Even though its not going to happen tomorrow, we have to keep pushing it so the funding continues to come in, and we can add-on to what we've built so far."

Tuesday night's Community Conversation begins at 6pm at the Morton Middle School Library, 1135 North Main Street in Fall River.
