The American Red Cross of Massachusetts is embarking on a new campaign aimed at reducing deaths caused by fires in the home. The American Red Cross is offering free smoke alarms and installation to residents of Fall River on May 5. Red Cross volunteers will be teaming up with the Fall River Fire Department for the "Sound the Alarm" campaign. Volunteers will be visiting homes in Fall River on that day to provide fire safety education and install a smoke alarm at no cost. Red Cross volunteer Mark McLoughlin joins WBSM's Jim Phillips to discuss the program, and how Fall River residents can get involved.

Townsquare Sunday with Jim Phillips can be heard each Sunday at 6 a.m. on WBSM 1420 and WBSM.com. Townsquare Sunday is a weekly public affairs program highlighting non-profits and community organizations in the Greater New Bedford area.
