Fairhaven's Deputy Fire Chief Donn Fletcher will retire on Wednesday after 48 years on the job.

Firefighter Wayne Oliveira says Fletcher will be honored with a final ride on a fire truck, to his home, where members of the Department will be standing by.

Oliveira says this is a long standing tradition for firefighters on their last day of work.

The public is invited to take part in the event, and those who would like to participate are asked to come to the Green St. side of Cushman Park at 4 p.m.

Deputy Chief Fletcher is expected to arrive shortly after by fire truck to his home just across the street.
