NEW BEDFORD — Detectives from the narcotics unit were targeting street-level narcotics sales in the South End, when they observed suspicious behavior in a vehicle at County and Windsor Streets consistent with drug activity.

Upon further investigation, narcotics were found in the vehicle and arrests were made.

Yaritza Velazquez, 39, of Acushnet Ave., New Bedford, was charged with possession of Class C substance (Klonopin), possession of Class B substance (crack cocaine) and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

Kimberly Despres, 35, of Second St., New Bedford, was charged with four counts of possession of Class E substance, two counts of possession of a Class B substance and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

Charles Dyous, 20, of Rivet St., New Bedford, was charged with possession of Class B (cocaine), carrying a weapon larger than allowed by city ordinances, and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

The arrests took place shortly after noon on Thursday.
