Three Finalists for New Bedford Police Chief Leaked

The three finalists for police chief in New Bedford are being made public, though, unofficially.

A member of the Mayor's screening committee confirmed to WBSM News Wednesday the three candidates they recommended to Mayor Jon Mitchell are Capt. Joseph Cordeiro, Lt. Richard Netinho, and Det. Cap. Steven Vicente.

The unnamed screening committee member had asked WBSM News to keep the names confidential until an announcement was formally made by Mayor Jon Mitchell. Other media outlets, however, have released the identities of the finalists after speaking with other members of city government not assigned to the screening committee.

Mayor Jon Mitchell says he will likely announce his choice for police chief within the next two weeks.
