Dartmouth police arrested three men from New Bedford following a shooting Sunday morning.

Detective Kyle Costa says officers went to 787 Tucker Road at approximately 9:45 a.m. to investigate a shooting.

While responding to the call an officer spotted the suspect vehicle and conducted a felony stop where they recovered the weapon and positively identified the suspects.

The three men, identified as 19-year-old Hakeem Mota, 21-year-old Michael Pires, and 20-year-old Sidney Maia, were arraigned Monday in New Bedford District Court on charges of A&B Dangerous Weapon, Assault with Intent to Murder, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Wanton Injury to Property, Commission of a Felony while Armed, and Conspiracy.

Maia is also being held on a probation warrant.

The victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital where he was treated for a single gunshot wound and released.

Chief Timothy Lee says the shooting wasn't random and the victim knew one or more of the assailants.  "This is an isolated incident that carried over from an incident that occurred in New Bedford.”
