Police responded to a threatening note Friday found at New Bedford High School.

The note was found inside the high school just before noon, and indicated a threat to the building.

Police considered the threat low-level and non specific, but conducted a sweep of the building as the school day proceeded.  According to the school department Community Relations Manager Jonathan Carvalho, nothing was found and the school day continued as usual.

Supt. Pia Durkin said Police were called because no threat is taken lightly when it comes to the well-being of children in the schools.  She said the staff dealt with the incident professionally.
