Highly active and controversial. That's what many are saying after learning that Eddie Johnson passed away early Father's day morning, after a brief illness.

A few listeners pay tribute to Eddie Johnson.

Eddie founded the Citizens Leading Environmental Action Network [CLEAN] and the Parting Ways Museum of African American and Cape Verdean American Ethnohistory. He bragged about rarely missing a New Bedford School Committee meeting. That's where we first met face to face.

There are numerous times Johnson and I disagreed. After a brief feeling out period, we learned to agree to disagree. Johnson was a host on WBSM in the 1980's. He was 72.
