Third Suspect Arrested In Rifle Theft [AUDIO]

A third suspect has been charged in connection with the theft last month of an assault rifle from the trunk of an unmarked Police car in New Bedford. Two others have already been charged. 25 year old Rickey Dexter of New Bedford was actually arrested two weeks ago, but the arrest was not formally announced by the Police Department. He’s charged with receiving stolen property and unlawful possession of a firearm, but according to Det. Capt. Steve Vicente, he did not take the weapon from the trunk of the car.

Brandon Pierce and Joshua Amaral, both 21 and both from Acushnet were charged on July 27. The weapon was also recovered that same day in a wooded area off Pembroke Avenue in Acushnet. Vicente says the investigation is ongoing and police continue to follow leads.
