It's an idea that's been discussed for a while: A third bridge to Cape Cod that would be meant to ease traffic gridlock. It starts on Memorial Day Weekend and continues through the summer. One can expect miles of backed up traffic. Most have gotten used to it and expect the traffic snarl, but would they welcome the idea of a third bridge to cut down on traffic headaches?

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has hired a consultant and is exploring the potential for a new third bridge built using private funding that would be recouped over time through toll collections. There remains many questions about the infrastructure on the Cape side of the proposed bridge, and if the roadway could support a wider highway system.

If a third "toll" bridge was constructed using private funds and reduced the traffic backup, would you pay the extra money to use it? As important, do you think a third bridge would succeed in easing Cape Cod traffic backup?
