Are you going on vacation during the February break? Maybe I can help you prevent a family get away that could turn into a nightmare if you are not careful. When I traveled the country with my syndicated radio show, I picked up some valuable tips, some at a great personal expense. One of the oldest scams involves hotel guests who receive a phone call in the middle of the night from a pleasant voice apologizing and claiming to work at the front desk. You are told that there is a serious problem with your credit card and you're asked to repeat the credit card number back one more time, or face early morning eviction. The scam artists are banking that you'll be caught off guard while still half-asleep! NEVER give out any credit card information on the phone. Instead, hang up and call the front desk directly. You'll not only find out that you stopped your credit card information from being stolen, but that your breakfast with the the family in the morning will taste so much better!
