A Rehoboth man told Taunton police that two men seen stealing between $20,000 and $40,000 in rare coins from his car probably tailed him from a coin show. The 58-year-old victim told police he stopped in Taunton at about 4:40 p.m. Saturday to visit a friend after a coin show in Auburn. He said he was tired and fell asleep while watching football on his friend's TV. A neighbor saw two white males breaking the victim's car windows and then speeding away in another vehicle.

The Taunton Daily Gazette reports that the victim told police that containers containing various coins were missing. The victim told police it's not uncommon for thieves to follow collectors from coin shows in order to steal valuables. Police are investigating.
