The politicians just don't understand that the people in this country have had enough of the same old, same old.  They don't get it.

Government leaders across the land are missing the point about why Donald Trump is so popular with the folks.  Don't matter if they are rich folks or poor folks or middle class folks, people have had it!  Let's look here in Massachusetts.  The legislature is debating a budget compromise for the new fiscal year that among other things reduces money for adult education, for Shannon Grants to fight gang activity at the local level and hacks some 142 million dollars from Medicaid. Medicaid...as in health care for old and poor people.  These cuts are necessary we are told because government is not taking in enough revenue. There is enough to send aid to the states four sanctuary cities though.

The budget does include additional education aid and unrestricted local aid to communities but with the understanding that if revenues don't improve soon there could be cuts there are well. Senate President Stan Rosenberg is promising to revisit the idea of tax and fee increases in January.  The so-called Millionaires Tax is coming too. And you know that sales tax free holiday you enjoy each August?  Forget about it!

Lawmakers, particularly those on the left, rail on about taking it to Wall Street while totally missing the point that the anger is on Main Street.  People have less concerns about private banking institutions making profits than they do about politicians taking more and more of our money to make an already bloated and inefficient government even bigger and more inefficient.  Profits are good.  Profits create jobs and opportunities and give the working class something to aspire to. Big government politicians are bad. Big government politicians do little more than suck money out of the economy, your money and mine, and they create a bigger bureaucracy that feeds on our money like a heroin addiction.

There is a revolution underway in this country and the politicians had better get hip to it because the people have had enough. The powerful elite who pretend not to be the "one percenters" they rail against are too far removed from Main Street to understand the frustration and anger.... but it is real.

Perhaps Bob Dylan said it best:

There's a battle outside and it's ragin. It'll soon shake your windows and rattle your walls, for the times they are a changin'"
