The United States Naval Ship Fall River has arrived in Battleship Cove.  The Navy joint high speed vessel will be in Fall River through Sunday.

Its the second naval vessel named after the city of Fall River, and is capable of carrying 600 tons of equipment at speeds of 35 to 40 knots.  The first U-S-S Fall River was commissioned in 1945.  Its bow now sits at the entrance to Battleship Cove.

Planned for this weekend is the dedication of a monument to Gold Star Mothers.  Medal of Honor winners will also be visiting the city.
