Taunton Woman’s Death Being Investigated As A Homicide

A homicide investigation is being conducted after a woman was found dead inside a Taunton apartment.

Gregg Miliote, a spokesman with the Bristol County District Attorney's Office says that at around around 5:47 p.m. Taunton Police received a 9-1-1 call from a woman who said she came home to find her girlfriend dead inside.

Police responded to 9 Morton St. and found the victim, identified as 23-year-old Vanessa Courtney, in the apartment.

Miliote says it was later determined that Courtney had been stabbed or slashed to death.

The investigation is in its early stages and is being conducted by Taunton Police, Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney's Office and Homicide Unit prosecutors.
