Taunton Police Warn Residents About Phone Scam

Taunton residents are being warned of a phone scam by someone claiming to be the Police Department.

Taunton Police say they have received several complaints from residents who say they have received calls from someone who says the individual must pay some fines immediately or they will be arrested.

The calls show up on caller identification as Taunton Police.

However, police say they aren't involved in the collection of fines and they wouldn't call residents stating so.

If you receive such a call police say you should get the caller's name and tell them you will call them back at the police station.
