A Taunton Man has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for the 2010 slaying of his father-in-law.

Thirty-three year old Richard Carreiro-Forbes was sentenced Tuesday in Fall River Superior Court by Judge Rene Dupuis.  A jury deliberated about four hours before returning the guilty verdict.

Prosecutors said Carreiro-Forbes beat and shot 59 year old Francis Douglas Carreiro in the victim's Taunton duplex.

The trial lasted about eight days and featured testimony from about 20 witnesses.

District Attorney Thomas Quinn says the conviction means that  "those who loved Mr. Carreiro can feel that justice has been served."
